we've tried a hundred different mics, click tracks, cutting and splicing, overdubbing and separation-- but none of that ever worked. sure, we ended up with a good sounding recording, but it was sterile and stifled.
we need something more visceral. we need to turn things up and play together. i like it when a punk album just sounds like a great live show. i like that rob walked from room to room to press record, forgetting his pick in the other room every time. i like the clicks and pops. the noise that ian's amp wouldn't stop emitting. brandon's guiding nods and muted yells. i like that gabe has to fight the urge to grab the mic when he is in the vocal booth. i like the coating of beer and nicotine on my fingers, giving me a good grip on the sticks.

both guitars, bass and drums recorded together live. we will dub in the vocals, organ, auxiliary percussion, etcetera as soon as possible.

we are actually getting shirts made for the first time in about eight years!
these will be available in lots of colors, shapes and sizes... unless your fat... no fatties.
we are recording this sunday, february 24th. this session will be brutal!
oh yeah... and... rob and lee had a healthy baby boy!

as are now approaching our 10 year anniversary as a band (first band practice december 1997, first show june 1998) we have now decided to actually start pretending like we are a real band.
we played a great show last friday at stand up comics in lansing with PAL and the MALLSANTAS... if you have the chance to see either of them, please do yourself a favor and do so. Also, for the love of all that rips, support stand up comics. They are actually doing something for "the scene" and all "scenes" for that matter.
we also have a few prospective shows for november and december, some in the city some in the south suburbs. we will keep you posted here and on our myspace.
as far as recordings go... we have 7-10 songs for a split or an ep or something ALMOST done. we also are planning on doing a 7 inch this month.
you can also be on the lookout for some more merchandise in the near future as well.

We've found an amazing place to practice in downtown Chicago/Greek Town. I guess that officially makes us a Chicago band!
Anyways, we've got some ripping new songs we're working on to help you thrash through your day.
This is a warning. Be on the look out for a plethora of future Dreadnok:Ripper sightings!
In the meantime, keep checking our myspace page for music updates and demos of new songs!!!

In the last year and a half of (in)activity of dreadnok ripper, many things have kept us from getting to play as much as we have wanted to. Everything from surgery to college to surgery to work have inhibited us from rocking and rolling.
I, however, have finally cracked the code. Play a show at my work... GENIUS!
So come see us... because who knows how long it will be after that show that we actually muster the regazzo to grace the chicagoland with more dreadnok:rippage.

I have been recuperating in the jungle after 13 months of dormancy. Badly injured from my last brutal mission and busied with weddings, I needed some time to recuperate. I now need to assemble my brood. I need to teach them to rip again. I need to use them like puppets to reap destruction on… let’s say Wicker Park… on January 17th . More details will arrive soon.
